School classes - Trier in One Day

What are all the exciting things you can experience in Trier in just a single day? Here are some recommendations and tips to improve your school trip to Germany’s oldest city.

10:00 a.m.
All roads lead to the "Second Rome"! Begin your stay in Trier with a guided tour led by one of our qualified tour guides. During the tour, you will get to see all the relevant sights such as the Porta Nigra, the Roman Imperial Throne Room, the Imperial Baths, and much more. Discover more than 2000 years of history in Germany’s oldest city.

12:00 Noon
From the endpoint of the guided tour – the Imperial Baths – it’s just a stone’s throw to the Palace Garden. Your students will be able to relax and reenergize on the large sunbathing area, at the reflecting pool, or in the café. Moreover, the Palace Garden features a playground as well as a playing field where they can let off steam.

2:00 p.m.
We recommend a visit to the Archaeological Museum (Landesmuseum) as a follow-up to your lunch break. With its educational museum programs and the media theater "In the Realm of Shadows" the Archaeological Museum is sure to be a real hit.

4:00 p.m.
To wrap up an eventful day, we recommend an extra special highlight – the adventure performance "Secrets of the Porta Nigra": A Roman centurion, played by a professional actor, will whisk you away on a moving, stirring, and enjoyable journey into the past. Practice the battle cry "JUPITER NOBISCUM!" [Jupiter be with us!], help him defend the Porta Nigra against invading Germanic barbarians and form a guard of honor when he rides into Trier as Napoleon. Oh, the fun of hands-on history!
