Arrival to Trier by bicycle

Many bicycle trails lead to Trier. Numerous trails lead to Trier through the picturesque river valleys of the Moselle, Saar, Sûr and Kyll - for the most part off the highway. Here's a complete overview.

Rail & Bike

Excellent connections exist between the railroad and cycling especially along the Moselle, Saar, and Kyll. You can cover a part of the route comfortably with the train.
Free bicycle transport is available in the trains of the DB Regio in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland from Monday through Friday starting at 9 a.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays with no time limit, insofar as capacity is available. You purchase a ticket Monday through Friday before 9 a.m. for a one-way trip in local trains. The respective prices for German Rail or the Regional Transport Associations apply. Bus & Bike

RegioRadler Buses: In the Trier Holiday Region RegioRadler buses transport bicycles and cyclists along the Moselle, Ruwer, and Sûre. You arrive relaxed on the heights or on you return to your tour starting point . Schedules, info, and booking at:

Bike transport in buses of the Saar-Obermosel-Touristik: The Radelbus of the Saar-Obermosel-Touristik transports you and your bike to Luxembourg, to the Saar Bend, to Thionville, France, to Bernkastel-Kues, Hermeskeil, or up onto the Erbeskopf mountain. From those places, you then cycle back to your starting point around Konz or Saarburg. More info and booking at:

Bicycle transport in buses from the Trier City Utilities (Stadtwerke Trier Verkehrs-GmbH): You can transport your cycle in the buses of the City Utilities, insofar as space is available. Free transport in the buses is available Monday through Saturday starting at 9 a.m., Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays with no time limit. Before 9 a.m., you need a separate reduced ticket in the price class that applies.

Pedestrian zone (Trier)

You are permitted to cycle through the pedestrian zone in Trier between 7 p.m. and 11 a.m.
