Matthias Ningel

In his fifth solo program, Ningel is concerned with the big picture: harmony. Not just musical harmony, but also harmony in society. The ancient Greeks already had a daring idea: musical harmony and cosmic harmony are based on the same order. Ningel continues this idea and asks himself what the state of harmony is in the present. Why do today's times feel so out of step? Isn't the pulse of time more like ventricular fibrillation? He tracks down social phenomena and makes them audible by transferring them into music. What does a song sound like that forces the audience to make a permanent decision, similar to ordering food at Subway? At what percentage of errors does a musical work become unstable and vulnerable? What is the appeal of destroying harmonies? And why can all these misanthropists neither sing nor dance?

Despite receiving numerous cabaret awards, Matthias Ningel unfortunately doesn't know how to put the world in order. That much honesty is necessary. But as a qualified musician and cabaret artist, he tries to organize the chaos until a coherent whole emerges. He draws musicality out of things, turns words into drum grooves and even manages to turn the screeching asparagus peeling machine into the solo instrument in the world orchestra. Harmonie is universal music cabaret for all generations and a declaration of love for music.
