TUFA Musical 2025: THE PROM
Book by Chad Beguelin and Bob Martin
Lyrics by Chad Beguelin
Music by Matthew Sklar
German by Nico Rabenald
A flop on Broadway! The New York Times's scathing review is so devastating that Dee Dee and Barry, the show's main actors, feel compelled to revamp their image through a selfless act. After some research, their attention is drawn to the case of "Emma," a lesbian high school student from Indiana who is denied the opportunity to attend prom with her friend Alyssa. So, Dee Dee and Barry, supported by Angie, Trent, and Sheldon, set off for the countryside to begin their high-profile campaign against injustice.
There, Emma, unwaveringly optimistic, fights her battle for recognition. When she actually asserts her rights, she is framed...
Do she and Alyssa have a future together? Will the Broadway stars be successful again, and will the prom even take place? The new TUFA musical "The Prom" will answer all these questions.
The musical sparked such enthusiasm after its premiere in 2016 that Netflix recognized its potential and developed it into a film, which hit screens in 2020 with stars Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.
This piece of musical history about acceptance and tolerance will be staged at the TUFA in Trier in the fall of 2025.
Doors open 30 minutes before the performance.
The TUFA musical is supported by the Trier Cultural Foundation, Optik Glasklar GmbH, the Ministry for Family, Women, Culture and Integration, the Reh Foundation, the Cultural Foundation of the Sparkasse Trier, and Ticket-Regional.
