Traditionally, the city's patron saint, St Peter, watches over Trier's Old Town Festival and almost always ensures the most beautiful June sunshine every year. As befits its status, the festival kicks off with the tapping of the Bitburger keg on the main market square on Friday, which this year will be celebrated together with guests from Weimar. Afterwards, Frank Rohles rocks the evening on the Domfreihof and provides the first dance steps of the weekend.
Throughout the weekend, Fleischstraße will be transformed into Kiez Street - a melting pot of electronic sounds and young flair that will give you a real neighbourhood feeling.
A premiere awaits you on the Kornmarkt on Saturday and Sunday: the Sparkasse Trier Band Contest brings your favourite talents to the stage - above all the winning band PROOF on Sunday evening.
Before that, things will get frothy again at the cattle market: the traditional foam party promises fun for all ages. On the main market square, the Leiendecker Bloas will get everyone in the mood to party and sing along.
The Trier summer would be unthinkable without Guildo Horn. As the grand finale, he gets the Porta Nigra square shaking on Sunday evening and ensures that we are already looking forward to the next Old Town Festival.
