In Trier, you don’t have to be above the clouds, as Reinhard Mey once sang, to feel boundless freedom. All you need to do is sit by the Moselle, breathe in the fresh air at the foot of St Mary’s Column, or hit the region’s hiking and cycling tracks that radiate out from Trier base camp. But you can also access Trier from above the clouds. There are three airports within an approximately 200 kilometres of the city, all with good onward connections to the Moselle metropolis. So freedom can continue even under the clouds – or blue sky.
