The eventful and imperial past of the old Roman city of Trier is still reflected today in its architectural heritage, which has turned to stone over the centuries. The diversity and splendor of architectural styles from Roman times through the Renaissance to modern times is represented by numerous historic buildings.
Join us on a digital journey through 2000 years of Trier's architectural history, on which all eras of architecture are comprehensibly traced and brought to life using selected, striking buildings.
What do have Porta Nigra, the cathedral and the Basilica of Constantine in common? Which elements of the Roman period can still be found in later eras? And how has the succession of individual architectural styles changed the appearance of the city of Trier over the centuries? The answers to these and other questions can be found in our lecture.
With competent knowledge and the linking and comparison of selected buildings, you will experience Trier as a source of diverse architectural styles, where new and old buildings become a congenial architectural experience that is unique in many respects.
