Trier has a long tradition as a wine town, with winegrowing in the Moselle Valley dating back to Roman times. Vineyards have shaped the landscape around Trier's Petrisberg and the Brettenbach Valley to this day, creating a multifaceted cultural landscape that is subject to constant change. Thanks to the Mediterranean and very mild climate in the Trier valley, we find not only vines but also lush flora and fauna in the slate-covered, sunny vineyards. This habitat is worth protecting and preserving.
