The collection dates back to the 19th century. Amazing exhibits recount the history of the Trier valley region since the Stone Age, from which preserved hand-axes and animal bones are on display. Admire the Bronze-Age hoard from Trassem. Follow the Iron Age burial objects to learn more about the culture of the Celts. Marvel at the Roman ‘toad of tombs’ (‘Gräberstrasse’) and the largest mosaic collection north of the Alps. Be dazzled by the gold treasures, wowed by the Roman glass, and impressed by the giant model of 4th-century Trier. Learn how people in the Middle Ages handled the Roman legacy, and how the Christian faith took an increasingly strong hold in Trier.
