Tour with the Trier Night-Watchman

Careless landlords, loitering pub-crawlers, thieves and burglars – well, the 'clientele' the night watchmen has to deal with is not necessarily the cream of Trier's society. But someone has to do the job. And so, armed with a lantern and halberd, he walks through the dark alleys of Trier to make sure everything is in order. If necessary, the city guard is also at his disposal, but in most cases a few words of warning are enough to remind those who have already found their way home to extinguish their candles, or to chase everyone else off the streets after the ringing of the rag bell at the church tower of St. Gangolf.
